At an age when most people become more cautious of the unknown and the extreme, Sushil Kumar’s indomitable spirit of adventure does just the opposite
They say, ‘the sky is the limit’, but this 84-year-old seems determined to defy the adage! Sushil Kumar, a resident of Bengaluru, proved that age is truly just a number when he went skydiving—an incredible experience that makes it to the bucket-list of numerous thrill-seekers around the world—at Skydive Dubai’s Palm Dropzone this September.
At an age when most people become more cautious of the unknown and the extreme, Kumar’s indomitable spirit of adventure does just the opposite. Calm, collected but also visibly excited, Kumar later aptly described what he thought about the prospect of high-speed freefall: “I am told it lasts for only 60 seconds. However, time is relative, and 60 seconds can feel like one hour!”

The view, according to Kumar, was well worth the effort. The tandem skydive at the location provides a spectacular, bird’s-eye-view of some of Dubai’s most iconic landmarks including the Palm Jumeirah Island, World Islands and Ain Dubai—and Kumar was mighty impressed by it all: “It was a ‘wow’ experience! Now that I have done it—and I have done a lot—this is the best,” he quipped.
Kudos to this daring octogenarian, and may he pull off more of these inspiring feats in future!
